Do I need therapy? Am I “bad enough”?

You don’t acknowledge your mental health because a you were on tour with has "got it much worse"…that’s crazy. You don't have to have PTSD to justify getting some help. You wouldn’t not bother to get your oil changed because your neighbour's car was a death trap with no steering or breaks.

I've noticed that many veterans avoid seeking therapy because they don't think they're "bad enough" to need it but therapy isn't just for when you're at rock bottom; it's the action you should be taking to prevent things from getting that far. It's where you talk, process, and sort your shit out before things become overwhelming.

If you're feeling overwhelmed, stressed, or just not quite yourself, don’t wait until it feels "bad enough." Reach out, talk to someone, and remember that taking care of your mental health is just as important as taking care of your physical health.

Let's encourage a culture where asking for help is seen as a strength, not a weakness. Therapy can provide amazing tools for managing stress, dealing with trauma, and keeping our mental well-being in check.

Unfortunately, most of us are taught to only seek help in a crisis and this mindset can be harmful, and it's time we change how we think about therapy.

Let's support each other in seeking the help we need, when we need it.
